Courtready Ontario Rules of Civil Procedure Deadline Calculator (Version 1.0)
Last updated: December 17, 2025. Use this free tool to calculate litigation deadlines under Ontario's Rules of Civil Procedure.
This calculator determines the date on which a deadline falls by applying Rule 3.01 (computation of time) and Rule 1.03 (definition of "holiday") , including weekends and Ontario court holidays.

Step 1. What are you trying to calculate? A deadline AFTER an event (Choose this when a rule gives you X days AFTER an event to do something.) A deadline BEFORE an event (Choose this when a rule gives you X days BEFORE an event to do something.) Count days BETWEEN two dates (Choose this if you want to know how many days are between event A and event B.)
"Between" uses the Rule 3.01(1)(a) convention: exclude the first date, include the second. Step 2. Enter the relevant dates and deadlines: Step 3. OPTIONAL - Service details (See instructions below.) The "event date" from step 2 is the date of SERVICE of a non-originating process (So, NOT a statement of claim, notice of action, notice of application, counterclaim against a new party, or a third or subsequent party claim).
For an originating process (like a statement of claim or notice of application), Rule 3.01(1)(d) does NOT apply. Leave "service" unchecked in that case. Step 4. OPTIONAL - Holiday handling (You should leave the boxes checked.) Treat weekends and Ontario court holidays as "holidays" under rule 1.03(1). For periods of 7 days or less, do not count holidays under rule 3.01(1)(b).
If the final day of the period falls on a holiday, the deadline is moved to the next day that is not a holiday (rule 3.01(1)(c)). Compute
